ER’s PRAYER HOTLINE

September 1, 2010

“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” Colossians 4:2

Please join us in praying and fasting for ER’s ministries on Friday September 3

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 5 – The Quest Community Church of Lexington will be hosting a community outreach on this date, to which many thousands of people have come in past years. ER will have a booth with a brand new display to highlight our ministries (the display is being worked on now). The main objective of this outreach is to share the gospel message and bring people to a point where they will receive Jesus as Savior and Lord. Pray that many will make that decision. Pray for those organizing the event, that all the equipment will work as it should, and that there will be good weather.

JOS, NIGERIA – The Jos SOE staff will be praying tomorrow and they have asked us to join them and to intercede for the following requests: 1. That the match for the permanent site will be met early so that work can be done to make it possible to move into the buildings before January 2011. 2. That the pastors coming to the SOE, which will open on Monday, September 6, will arrive safely. 3. That the staff will be able to complete all preparations for the opening of school, especially considering that Janet will not be present to direct all the efforts. 4. That all the staff and students will know the powerful presence of the Lord in their midst and that all will grow spiritually, honing practical skills for effective ministry. 5. That peace will reign in Jos and that the training would not be interrupted as it was last year by political and religious conflicts and violence.

PAKISTAN – In August torrential monsoon rain triggered massive floods that have moved steadily from north to south, engulfing a fifth of the country and affecting 17 million of Pakistan's 167 million people. The Pakistani government has been overwhelmed by the magnitude of the disaster, the worst in the country's history, with millions in need of tents, food and medical aid. Pray for ER’s good friend who is currently in the country and in the area affected by the flood. Pray too for an ER contact in this country, who is in the midst of running a Portable Bible School. Pray that blessing will come from disaster.

THE MASTER – This little book, written by Phyllis Taylor, has been a blessing in many of the lands where ER ministers. It is a reflection on the power of the Lord Jesus as shown in the Gospel of John. It is not a commentary, but it does show how God gives the abundant life. This has been translated into many languages including five Indian languages. The fifth language of Marathi has just been completed and it is going to the printer in the next few days. Pray that this edition will be used of God to bring many in the language areas of Marathi (mostly the state of Maharashtra) to faith in Christ.

KATHGODAM, INDIA – The students from the SOE in this north Indian city have been affected by flooding and are just returning to the school. In addition, nine other students have had to leave. The twelve remaining students and staff need to be encouraged after a rough beginning to the school. Pray too for the need to find a permanent site for this SOE.

ER FAMILY – Some time ago we asked you to pray for a little five-year-old girl named Hannah who had been through serious heart problems. Even though the doctors are thinking another cardiac catheterization will be necessary the family is asking us to pray that there will be no further need of this procedure. Pray too for the son of this family who is in need of a job and in need of victory over depression. Continue to pray for a miracle for Jonathan Pound who fights on against the cancer in his body. Another asks us to pray for wisdom now that her husband has gone to be with the Lord. A daughter of an ER supporter is having dialysis 3 days a week and is on oxygen. She needs our prayer support. A former missionary with ER asks that we pray for her family and for her directly that she might have wisdom, direction and healing, physically and emotionally. Pray too for those whose marriages are in disarray and where reconciliation and repentance are needed.

HOME OFFICE – Pray for Ruth and Roland who will be returning to Wilmore from a visit with their daughter’s family. Pray for the staff as they man the booth at this weekend’s outreach in Lexington. Pray for the preparation of the new display. Pray for the ER News from the Fields which will need to go out this month and for the preparations that are being made now for trips to India, Bangladesh, Liberia, Congo and Cameroon.

“And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message.” Colossians 4:3
